Official, Age Manager Information Night & Registrations
Friday 1st September is your last chance to register and collect your registration packs before our first competition night on the 8th September. We are encouraging you to come and register prior to the 8th as athletes will not be able to take the field unless they have their registration number on their uniform. KINGS Sports will also be at the ground with a range of spikes, waffles and compression wear available to purchase on the night.
We will also be holding an information night for Age Managers, Assistants, Officials and anyone interested in helping with the running of Friday nights. Being involved with your children’s sport is very rewarding and without your help it can make the running of Friday nights difficult and unfortunately its the children that are affected the most. I really encourage you to come along and find out how you can contribute. We will also being having a BBQ for those attending.
On behalf of the committee we look forward to seeing you.

10th February 2017
Due the extreme weather and us having a duty of care to both athletes and helpers we have made the decision to cancel tonights competition.
While this is a summer sport we still have guidelines we have to follow and we feel that competing in the heat tonight will fall outside these guidelines.

Due to the extreme weather conditions we have made the decision to postpone our Centre Championships scheduled for this weekend. A new date will be posted in the next day or so.
FRIDAY NIGHT COMPETITION
We will be making a decision regarding tomorrow night by 4pm tomorrow. We need to take into consideration the heat as well as the prospect of having no electricity with the rolling outages predicted.

Under 13’s National Team Report.
Each year NSW Little Athletics selects a team of 22 athletes, (11 boys and 11 girls) from the under 13’s. These selections are based on the athlete’s performances at The State Championships, which are in March. This team is to represent NSW in The Asics Australian Little Athletics Championships, which is to be held on 24th April 2016. This year the Championships are to be held in South Adelaide.
It is not an easy team to be selected into, as the number of Athletes they select are limited and sometimes need to compete in numerous events.
Doonside Little Athletics were honored this season to have Caitlin Preston selected this year.
We would like to congratulate and wish the best to Caitlin.
Caitlin was selected to represent NSW in the 400m sprint after winning the Gold medal at The State Championships in March.
She was also selected to be part of the 4x100m relay team as well.
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and she will cherish every minute of the lead up to the competition.
I know she has worked hard at the team camps and hopefully learn some new skills.
Caitlin travelled to South Australia on Friday 22nd April and on Sunday 24th April she competed. Caitlin’s results were outstanding with her placing third in the heat, from lane 8 and wearing another athletes spikes as hers were still waiting in the Motel room to be packed in her bag.
A mad dash was made by her parents after the race and her spikes were back on her feet for the final which she ran hard and at the 200m mark, she was in 4th position, but she fought hard and never gave up, (as we have seen numerous times) and placed 3rd bringing home the Bronze Medal, and the title of the third fastest girl in Australia, not a bag title to have. She them ran the second leg of the 4x100m relay and the NSW team came away with the Silver medal.
Doonside Little Athletics Centre is very proud of your achievements Caitlin and you should be too.

2015/16 Season Welcome and Registration information
Welcome back to another season at Doonside Little Athletics. The committee has been working hard in the off season updating our Constitution, Bylaws and Rules of Competition we encourage you to review these on this website should you have any questions please approach a committee member.
We would like to take this opportunity to call on volunteers to be a part our newly created Championships Committee. The committee will consist of our Championships Officer an Executive Committee Member and we would love to have at least 3 parent members (non committee members no attendance of monthly meetings required) of DLAC to assist with the recording of weekly results of a Friday night, Gala & Championship Days as well as assisting at the end of season for Presentation Day. If you are interested please see Donna or Vanessa for further details.
It’s fantastic to see new faces amongst the returning athletes and parents this season. As you are aware the club is run entirely by volunteers both present parents and past parents. Little Athletics is all about family, fun and fitness and without help from all the families on Friday nights and at gala days your children do not get to have fun and fitness. We encourage all parents to get involved in your child’s sporting activities by helping out on a Friday night. There is no better feeling for a child than having their parent standing there whilst they’re competing.
Once again we would like to welcome all parents and athletes to a new and exciting season at Doonside Little Athletics and hope you find your time with us enjoyable and memorable.
The 2015/16 season Orientation night will be held on Friday the 4th of September at 6pm.
Registration will be held at Charlie Bali reserve every Friday night from 6pm after season start. Additional registration days will be held before season start from 10am to 2pm on Saturday 15th August and Saturday the 29th of August.
The new centre uniform will also be available to purchase on these dates.
You can also register online at Little Athletics NSW
2015/16 Rules for spikes.
The Under 11 age group is the minimum age for wearing spikes in the 2015/16 season. Please note this does not include the “Rubber spikes” which any age athlete can wear. These rule changes have come from The Australian Little Athletics Association and are not negotiable, and cannot be changed by NSW Little Athletics.
ALL fields are SMOKE FREE and there will be a designated smoking area for this purpose. Meetings are held every second Monday of the Month at 7.30pm, West Tradies, Woodstock Avenue. All are welcome.
Doonside Little athletics is volunteer run we really appreciate the assistance of all volunteers on Friday night with BBQ, place judging, canteen, equipment, age managers and assistants.
If you are interested in finding out how you can become more involved please see a committee member.
At Doonside Little A’s we pride ourselves in providing the ultimate Family Fun and Fitness experience for young Athletes and their Parents. We’d like to thank all individuals who help out on competition nights in any shape or form. Without your help and commitment we would not be able to run. All help is always gratefully received.
